The Medical Assistant training program is 50 credits (720 clock hours) and provides students with the skills and knowledge to begin a successful Medical Assistant career. SUMMARY

The Medical Assisting program can be completed within seven months in the daytime or nine months in the evening. Courses include:

The program is successful because it provides high-quality training with the appropriate combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience in a training lab. Students learn in a classroom environment and clinical laboratory that is set up like a real world medical lab. At the end of the program, students take one to three National Healthcareer Association exams to become certified to enter the workforce.

IS THIS PROGRAM RIGHT FOR ME?

This program is recommended for those individuals that like working with people, like to help, are courteous, have a pleasant manner, are able to put patients at ease, and can follow physician instructions easily. Recommended high school courses include mathematics, health, biology, keyboarding, bookkeeping, computers, and office skills. Volunteer experience in the healthcare field also is helpful. Clinical duties require a reasonable level of manual dexterity and visual acuity.

Medical assistants who are trained on the job usually spend their first few months attending training sessions and working closely with more experienced workers. Medical assistants are required to respect patients' personal and confidential medical information.
